Karen Anderson

Karen Anderson has deep roots in international education and the arts. She grew up in Southern Minnesota and attended Gustavus Adolphus College, earning a Bachelor of  Science Degree in Elementary Education. She then taught in the Robbinsdale , MN. School District for two years so she could join the Air Force and teach with the Department  of  Defense on a base school in Misawa , Japan. This led her to her next adventure in Ghana , West Africa helping to establish a company school for Kaiser Aluminum International with the Volta Aluminum Co. in Accra and Tema , Ghana . Karen lived there for three  years with a team of educators and after the first year there was a first class International School.

Following her long range plans, she moved to San Francisco , taught school and took classes at the San Francisco Art Institute . She was offered an opportunity to become a gallery director / gallerist for Circle Fine Art Corporation out of New York. Karen was in the art business for the next 25 years . Later she opened her own staging business , called "Stagecoach by Karen ", which she closed recently. 

Karen has been a Docent with the S.F. Botanical  Garden Children's program for the past 7 years. In the past she was a volunteer with the ' Art With Elders ' , program at Laguna Honda Hospital . She has served as a Deacon and Elder with the Seventh Avenue Presbyterian Church .

Karen is a member of the San Francisco Succulent and Cactus Society and has a garden that gives her much joy and peace. She has enjoyed teaching children and seniors  the power of doing art for self expression and satisfaction.
